Skin injuries
The injuries that are likley to occur with skin come from:
Contact with dyes in textiles - can lead to allergic reactions
Abrasion - from textiles or rubbing especially if fabric is coarse
or skin is abraded by mud sand or grit. Continual rubbing from sporting
actiivities like cycling and running may lead to sore areas more quickly
than in other sports.
Sore areas - more likely to get infected especially areas of thin
skin groin and between digits e.g. athletes foot a fingal infection often
between toes of the foot but can occur elsewher on the body.
The skin's reaction to continual rubbing may be to produce callouses
which themselves may cause problems in fitting footwear and pain on being
pressed. The deeper layers of muslce, tendon and bone may also be involved
in the formation of callosities which may require surgery.
Sores may also arise under the breast through a combination of sweat
and rubbing during activity.
The pulp in the fingers may be injured especially during rock climbing.
