Stage 5 - Fieldwork
Primary data collection takes place among the target group. At this stage,
the plan is put into operation. Rigorous monitoring is needed to ensure
unbiased collection, esp. if the fieldwork is sub-contracted.
Stage 6 - Data analysis
Information technology now facilitates both speedy data collection and
sophisticated analysis. (Data is now big business - even if your mane
isn't hold, marketers know your 'type' - they know what kind of neighbourhood
you live in, which TV programmes you watch, where you go on holiday, where
you shop, what you buy etc. etc.)Specialist software is designed for input
and analysis of data - specific to the method of data collection employed.
Stage 7 - Presentation of findings
The results are always presented in a written report to the client. Additionally,
the client may request a visual/oral presentation by the researcher to
the management team. This latter form of presenting the results will provide
the key findings and give an opportunity for questions and discussion.
