Construction - CASE STUDY: 3 different layers of upper.

4. An upper - An upper is shown an top of the shoe. On upper various materials are used. The upper is constructed from many pattern pieces which are carefully designed for a purpose of fashion and function of the shoe in action. The upper is a one piece where small pieces are sewn on to of each other.

3. Supportive pieces - For the back part of the shoe a stiffener is inserted in between the upper and the lining. The glass fibre stiffener (also known as heel cup) has been moulded on the basis of the heel of the foot. It support the foot ideally and improves the torsion resistance of the shoe. Heel cup can be also made of premoulded fibre, polyethylene of plastic. For the front part of the shoe also a supportive piece can be used. It is called toe puff. It support toes and prevents upper material to wear off easily. Most sportswear use either soft filmic toe puffs or nothing at all.

2. A lining - A lining of sport shoe is for the back part of the foot. Lining with padding support the heel and the ankle area. It makes shoe to feel more comfortable. It also covers an inserted heel cup
