Manufacturing the upper starts from a clicking room.
Clicking room |
The clicking room is the name given to the department/room where parts of upper of the running shoe are cut from various materials. |
Closing room |
Closing department/room is the name given to the preparation, fitting together and finishing off the cut components to produce upper. |
Lasting room |
After assembling pieces together, the upper goes to the lasting room (look at the section on production methods). |
Small pieces of the upper are stitched on to a body piece either sewing pieces individually by flat bed machine or the pieces are attached together by automatic stitching machine. Various sewing machines are used: 1 needle flat bed machine for 1-row stitching, 2 needle flat bed machine for 2rows stitching. If small pieces on top of the body are leather, edges of the leather are skived (making edge thinner by taking out the material). If the material is synthetic this sequence is left out.
