Ghillies and loops provide, as do laces themselves, a flexible
fastening system. Various materials can be used polyester, polyamide,
nylon etc. Ghillies or loops are in a strap form with various braidings.
They need to stand wear and withstand forces placed on lacing. Therefore
breaking strength of the loop strap needs to be tested. Loops are
attached to piece by sewing. It means that stitching need to be
secure and sewing cord strong, but also flexible. Loops also need
to take abrasion (friction) that occurs in a lacing operations as
much in action.
