Heat loss

This comes from:

  • Skin / blood vessels
    • Sweat is evapourated from the skin surface, the heat needed to do this is removed from the body.
    • When you get hotter the blood vessels near the surface open (become redder) so more heat is lost.
  • From the lungs warm air is expired
  • From urine and faeces - small amount of heat loss

The overall temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus in the brain.
