Sport shoe last
A sport shoe last differs from the last of a casual/standard shoe. A
sport shoe last needs to be designed for the activity. The girth, width
of waist, instep, back part, heel width and width of forepart vary according
to the sport. A combination last is used eg. on long jump track (Cheskin,1987).
In this case a narrow heel width is used, a standard waist area, a wide
girth and a narrow toe area. The instep, back part and girth are standard.
Sport shoe last can be straight or curved. Most feet curve inside. The
inward curve in a last will improve the fit and comfort. According Cheskin
(1987) athletes with high or flexible long arch may prefer curve lasted
shoes.
